Product Introspection- Fort Greene
We are living in an age in which the value and longevity of any item produced is rooted in the process by which it is created and the impact it has on the environment. Our Fort Greene collection was sustainably produced in New York City and was created to reflect and restore the local community.
Each product is one of a kind and comprised of 100% up-cycled fabrics from vintage stores and dead stock suppliers like Fabscrap. Buying our materials locally and producing locally each play a crucial role in stimulating the local economy, and reducing our carbon foot print. We select the highest quality blue cottons and jersey fabrics. The products in this series are connected through color and the technique by which the fabric is constructed. The dark and light blue colored fabrics offer a variety of textures, hues, and graphics that enhance the overall design.
Some fabrics contain graphics and/or words that deliver different messages seeking to reflect ambition in New York. “New York Hung Ga, Sports, Stay on track, Meditate and Destroy, and Quest for excellence” are some of the words included in this series. Ambition is the seed from which all growth proceeds. These words and phrases were intentionally gathered to generate this feeling of growth and development.
Hand Painted Prints
These products are made in a style that references the walls on the streets of New York City. The paint is uniquely applied using a mono-print technique to ensure distinct, yet impulsive marks exemplifying spontinaiety, natural processes of decay and the passage time.
